Greeley Winter Service Drive

Project Rise & Shine is almost here! This winter we are partnering with Friends of the Children Chicago to provide the 145 kids in this program with morning essential kits.

These kids wake up every morning to go to school without always having a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and other morning basics. We’d like to change that!

Here is what we will be collecting by grade:

-K: Kids toothbrush, wash cloth, bubble bath

-1st: Toothbrush, lotion

-2nd: Bar soap, lotion

-3rd: Kids toothpaste, lotion

-4th: Toothpaste, deodorant

Please no travel or jumbo sizes

2022 Downsized Capital Improvement Plan: Referendum

At the August 16 Meeting, the School Board approved a resolution to move forward with placing the $59.4MM referendum on the November 8, 2022 ballot. If this referendum should pass, it would fund the following work at our schools:

  • Updated safety components, including secure entry vestibules
  • Upgraded HVAC systems to improve air quality, air flow, temperature control and energy efficiency
  • Accessibility for all students, staff and visitors that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Electrical wiring and panel upgrades to support technology and improve energy efficiency
  • Plumbing replacements to address fixtures that have reached the end of their useful life
  • The addition of a multipurpose room/cafeteria at Hubbard Woods
  • Removal of the temporary trailers at Crow Island and the subsequent addition of three permanent classrooms
  • Repurposing of the current gym to serve as a multipurpose room/cafeteria and the subsequent addition of a gym at Crow Island
  • Extension of the useful life of existing facilities and proactive reduction of costly emergency repairs

Greeley PTO Dues and Staff Gift Fund

PTO DUES:

Each year the PTO collects per child dues which go specifically towards enriching the Greeley learning environment as well as funding all of our amazing programs that are put on throughout the year. We could not do any of our programming without it so please consider contributing so we can continue to support the schools, above and beyond what is funded by the district. This is a ONE TIME collection for the entire year, which eliminates the need for additional fundraisers throughout the year. We are asking for a minimum donation of $55 per child.

STAFF GIFT FUND

Staff gift donations allow us to maintain classroom teacher gifts at a similar level as they have received in the past and provide an appropriate gift for all staff throughout the building.  Please note that we will not be asking for additional gift funds for teacher and staff gifts. We are asking for a minimum donation of $55 per child.

4th GRADE GIFT FUND

If you have a 4th grade child, we will be collecting donations up front for our 4th Grade Events Committee.  We request that you pay this fee, up front, per child so our committee can plan a fun event in the Spring. We are asking for a minimum donations of $45 per child.

How would you like to pay?

By check, please drop off the check or mail it to:

Registration for Winter After School Activities Now OPEN!

Get ready for some fun after school at Greeley! Winter classes will run from the week of January 3rd through the week of March 25th. We’ve got some great activities lined up – from Amazing Minds, Chess Ed, and After School Sports to LEGO classes (including a Pokemon LEGO class!), acting, and dance classes! Class descriptions and registration links can be found in the Google Drive document below. Thank you to our PTO after school programming volunteer, Brigid Sexton, for her work in organizing these fun activities!

Please read all class descriptions for registrations links and timing. School clubs run by school staff must be registered through the District. As a courtesy, we are also providing details of school clubs here. Please note, school clubs may begin at any time, and may not follow the trimester schedule for other after-school enrichment. Also, school clubs can fill up quickly, and the school is unable to add additional seats.

PTO Contributions

The PTO works with families and staff to enrich the Greeley learning environment and connect our Greeley community!  The PTO budget works to support teachers & staff, our school community and our students throughout the year in fun and creative ways.  While the exact needs change year to year, below is an outline of some of the many ways that the contributions made by Greeley Families will support this year’s efforts:

Teachers & Staff:

  • Staff Grants – Monetary grants given to each staff member before the start of school for use towards new materials or supplies in preparation for the new year!
  • Staff Luncheons – A welcome back luncheon during the staff’s first week back on campus and a holiday luncheon before the Winter Break
  • Staff Appreciation Week – The first week of May, the PTO provides special surprises to Staff throughout the celebratory week (flowers, snacks, lunch, etc.)

School Community:

  • Back to School – Popciples in the park, welcoming decorations/balloons/signs, first day coffee out front of the school
  • New Families – Welcome goodie bags for every new student, Meet & Greet Events for kids, New Family Party Parent Party
  • Halloween – Pumpkin Contest Materials, decorations and prizes
  • Family Fun Nights – Examples from the past have been Bingo Night, Magician, Movie Night, etc.  Typically the PTO hosts two of these a year
  • School Grounds – help to support keeping our outdoor space well maintained and fill the flower pots seasonally
  • Parent Party – A fun evening out for parents!
  • End of Year Family Picnic – all school event with an ice cream truck

Student Enrichment:

  • Special Grant Requests (past examples: creation of school song, new lunchroom tables, 1st grade chick hatching experience, etc.)
  • Yoga – a unit of the KW class during winter months
  • One School, One Book – PTO pays for a copy of the book for each school family as well as prizes and special programming throughout the month
  • Book Fair – A student favorite!  The PTO provides decorations, gift wrap and other materials to make this event a success to raise money for the Resource Center/new books.  The PTO currently also buys all remaining Teacher Wish List books at the end of the fair that were not already purchased by families/students
  • School Spirit – Raffle prizes and other fanfare for Spirit Days
  • Birthday Board – A fun and creative bulletin board in the school that features a new theme every two months for highlighting student birthdays!
  • 4th Grade Farewell Celebrations – End of year party for 4th grade students
